This book is dedicated to the memory of J.A. Fowlie †, well-known in international orchid circles and one of the former editors-in-chief of Orchid Digest also author of numerous articles on South American and Southeast Asian orchids.
Orquídeas/Orchids Cattleya labiata autumnalis is a bilingual publication in Portuguese and English.
L.C. Menezes provides a general overview of the large-flowered, long-respected Brazilian Cattleya labiata Lindley, formerly known as both Cattleya labiata and Cattleya labiata autumnalis.
While the text is rather sparse, this book contains many beautiful photographs.
Conclusion.
The value of this book is determined by an abundance of beautiful photographs, making it more of a photo than a textbook. So this is not an orchid monograph.

L.C. Menezes geeft een algemeen inzicht in de grootbloemige, sinds lang wereldwijd zeer gewaardeerde Braziliaanse Cattleya labiata Lindley die vroeger gekend was als zowel Cattleya labiata als Cattleya labiata autumnalis.
Waar de teksten eerder summier zijn, bevat dit boek daarentegen veel zeer mooie foto’s.
Conclusie.
De waarde van dit boek wordt bepaald door een overvloed aan zeer mooie foto’s waardoor het eerder een kijkboek is dan een studieboek, laat staan een wetenschappelijke monografie. Voor de volledigheid verwijs ik naar de twee belangrijkste boeken van J.A. Fowlie The Brazilian Bifoliate Cattleyas en The Genus Lycaste. Voor zijn artikels moet je vooral bij Orchid Digest zijn.
