Jumellea comorensis (Rchb.f.)
Schltr.
This beautiful species from the Comores Islands has pure white, brillant,
5 cm big flowers if grown in a greenhouse. Yes, I did grow the species
in a room with gigantic windows, an average temperature of 21°C
and a very low humidity (sometimes only 25%). In that condition, altough
the plant grew well, the flowers ware not bigger than 3 to 3,5 cm.
The plant easily grows to big clumps and divisions can be made from
rooted cuttings.
Remackable: the leaves, when touched, smell chocolate.
