In 1750 Rumphius described this species as
Angraecum album majus (Herb. Amboin. 6: 99,t. 43, 1750.) and several other autors described the same species under different names till Blume in 1825 the Genus Phalaenopsis described based on this Phalaenopsis species.
It's an easy to grow Phalaenopsis species even on window-sill.
This species grows inQueensland (Australia), New Guinea, The Philippines and the Indonesian islands.

It's not evident to see this Phalaenopsis-species in an orchid collection. Plants are found in Sulawesi, Celebes and Indonesian Islands.

These plant needs warm and humid growing conditions and bright shadow. With good cultivation, this species flowers with several nice 3-4 cm flowers during a long period of time.

This very variable species grows in the Philippines. The lefthand flower is the so called 'Celebes' form, the most typical Ph. Lueddemanniana. Yellowish forms often haven the 'formae' name 'boxalli'. The righthand flower is Ph. lueddemanniana 'Woodlawn'.

This plant from the Philippines is rare in orchid collections. Reichenbach filius described this species based on material that has been found by Micholotz.

It is said that this 'species' could be a natural hybrid between Ph. fasciata and Ph. pallens. Others state it is a subspecies of Ph. lueddemanniana.
I grow a plant in my warm greenhouse where it flowers in summer.

A beautiful and rare Phalaenopsis-species from China that grows in about the same habitat as Ph. wilsonii Rolfe.

I grow this plant epiphyticaly in my warm greenhouse on a bit of sphagnum and a piece of timber. Every morning a misting system provides the necessary humidity.
